Waist Trainer For Weight Loss, A waist trainer can work temporarily. Waist trainers can make your waist look slimmer, but they do not provide a permanent change or weight loss.
Waist trainers remain meant to tighten your midsection and “train” your figure into an hourglass shape. They are a corset with a modern twist.
The waist trainer trend may be due, in part, to celebrities posting photos and enthusiastic endorsements on social media.
Celebrities may swear by them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re practical and safe to use. Read on as we explore the realities of waist trainers and whether they pose any health risks.
A waist trainer is an undergarment made of thick fabric and hard metal boning. It is worn around the midsection and fastens with a lacing, hook or Velcro’s system.
It remains designed to remain worn much tighter than a girdle or shape wear to give you a sleeker, smaller waist. While results can remain seen immediately, “training” requires wearing the garment frequently over a few months.
Corsets have been around for at least five centuries. Initially, they hid most of a woman’s shape between the breasts and hips. Sometime in the 1800s, corsets evolved to accentuate the female form, targeting the prized hourglass figure that a tiny waist and curved hips demand.
The waist’s idealized tiny size kept getting smaller until the corsets fell out of fashion due to discomfort and health concerns.
The instant transformation can be impressive; the theory is that you can train your waist to maintain that shape.
According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) blog, a waist trainer will not drastically change your body shape. Even if you have the type of body that temporarily lends itself to such a shape, your waist trainer is unlikely to have a lasting effect.
You may temporarily lose a small amount of weight using a waist trainer, but it’s probably due to fluid loss through sweat rather than fat loss.
Also, tissues and muscles need oxygen, especially during exercise. Your waist trainer can make breathing difficult, making it much harder to continue your workout.
They found that the very low-calorie diet was feasible, even after a year. They could not assess the effectiveness of wearing a corset because most of the study participants stopped wearing it due to discomfort.
It makes sense that having a tight stomach would probably make you feel full faster. This can cause you to eat less.
Eating the right amount of nutritious food is essential to stay healthy and get the vitamins and minerals you need. By limiting how much you eat, your diet may not be enough to keep you healthy.
You might temporarily lose a small amount of weight wearing a waist trainer, but it will likely be due to loss of fluids through perspiration rather than loss of fat.
You may also eat less while wearing the trainer simply because your stomach is compressed. This is not a healthy or sustainable path to weight loss.
